Cuts to OSAP will Hurt Ontario’s Post-Secondary Students
Column published in the February 26, 2026 edition of Your Barrhaven Independent — Community Voice.
In my previous Barrhaven Independent column, I wrote about my Local Matters Tour, which has taken me to college and university campuses across the province to hear directly from students, faculty, and staff. Those conversations could not happen at a more critical moment. The provincial government’s recent announcements on changes to the post-secondary funding model and the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) have made these conversations with students even more urgent.
From Campus to Campus: Hearing The Issues That Matter
Column published in the February 12, 2026 edition of Your Barrhaven Independent — Community Voice.
Over the coming weeks, my caucus colleagues and I will be kicking off our Local Matters Tour across Ontario. While Doug Ford has chosen to shut down the Legislature for one of the longest breaks in its history, Ontario Liberal MPPs are hitting the road to visit communities across the province — from Windsor to Thunder Bay and everywhere in between.
In Ontario’s 2026 Budget, Let’s Focus on Home Care
Column published in the January 29, 2026 edition of Your Barrhaven Independent — Community Voice.
Ontario’s budget is often discussed in terms of billions of dollars and line items, but for many families, it’s felt in quieter and more personal ways: a loved one waiting too long for home care, a caregiver stretched beyond exhaustion, or a senior stuck in a hospital bed because there’s nowhere appropriate for them to go next. As the government shapes its next budget, these realities need to be guiding the conversation.
Ontario’s Affordability Crisis Deserves Real Solutions
Column published in the January 15, 2026 edition of Your Barrhaven Independent — Community Voice.
People in Nepean are feeling the strain of rising costs of living, especially after the holiday season. Whether it’s a higher grocery bill, ever-increasing rent or mortgage payments, or rising utilities, the cost of living continues to climb faster than household incomes. I hear it every day from parents, seniors, and young people who are doing the right things—working hard, budgeting carefully, and limiting expenses—yet still falling behind.
Supporting our Community this Holiday Season
Column published in the December 18, 2025 edition of Your Barrhaven Independent — Community Voice.
The weather may be cold, but the holiday spirit is warming up our streets as we approach Christmas and the New Year. From the festive decorations strung across our neighbourhoods, to the beautiful lights display on Greenbank Road courtesy of the Barrhaven BIA, bringing smiles to so many as they visit our local businesses, and the excitement in classrooms as students count down the days until holiday break, the joy is everywhere.
Community Health Centres are needed to Address the Healthcare Crisis
Column published in the December 4, 2025 edition of Your Barrhaven Independent — Community Voice.
A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of visiting the Pinecrest Queensway Community Health Centre (PQCHC) and its satellite Barrhaven location, the South Nepean Community Health Centre. What I saw there was inspiring – a model of community care that fills critical gaps at a time when our healthcare system is stretched to its breaking point.
The Premier’s Decision to Ban Municipal Speed Cameras Puts Kids at Risk
Column published in the September 11, 2025 edition of Your Barrhaven Independent — Community Voice.
As of Friday, November 14th, the unilateral decision made by the Premier and the Minister of Transportation to ban automated speed enforcement cameras in municipalities across Ontario went into effect. This reckless move is deeply concerning to me and to many of my colleagues across the province.
Bill 60 — Another Omnibus Bill in Ontario
Column published in the November 6, 2025 edition of Your Barrhaven Independent — Community Voice.
In Ontario politics lately, few things have become as predictable as this government’s reliance on omnibus bills to get its legislation passed. An omnibus bill is a piece of legislation that crams dozens of unrelated changes into one piece of legislation. The latest example of this is Bill 60, the Fighting Delays, Building Faster Act, 2025.
Addressing Ontario’s ER Crisis
Column published in the October 9, 2025 edition of Your Barrhaven Independent — Community Voice.
As a nurse, I’ve seen the best and worst of Ontario’s healthcare system up close. Every new challenge reminds us of how fragile our system has become—and how the lack of access to primary care threatens to break it entirely. Here in Nepean, nearly 30,000 residents don’t have a family doctor or nurse practitioner. That number is staggering, impacting a far greater part of the community.
My First Community Bbq As Nepean’s mpp
Column published in the October 9, 2025 edition of Your Barrhaven Independent — Community Voice.
As your Member of Provincial Parliament for Nepean, one of the greatest parts of my job is getting out into the community, meeting my neighbours, and connecting with the people who make our riding such a special place to call home.
On Saturday, September 20th, I had the privilege of hosting my very first community barbecue at our constituency office at 250B Greenbank Road. I would like to extend a big thank you to everyone who came out to share the afternoon with us. It was truly remarkable to see so many long-time friends and familiar faces, while also meeting new friends and hearing your stories.
From Nepean to Queen’s Park: Gearing up for the Fall Legislative Session
Column published in the September 25, 2025 edition of Your Barrhaven Independent — Community Voice.
In just a few weeks, all one hundred and twenty-four Members of Provincial Parliament from across Ontario will return to Queen’s Park for the fall legislative session, after a summer spent in our communities attending local events, barbeques, graduations, and participating in countless conversations. The return to Toronto for the fall is an important opportunity to carry those voices back into the legislature.
A new school year, a renewed commitment to education
Column published in the September 11, 2025 edition of Your Barrhaven Independent — Community Voice.
As the school bells ring and classrooms across Nepean and Ontario come alive again, there’s a familiar mix of excitement and anticipation in the air. For students, the return to school is a chance to reunite with friends, dive into new subjects, and discover their potential. For parents, it’s a season of renewed routines and hopes for their children’s future. And for educators and staff, it marks the beginning of another year of dedication, patience, and hard work shaping the next generation.
Reflecting on My Busy Summer in Nepean
Column published in the August 28, 2025 edition of Your Barrhaven Independent — Community Voice.
As your Member of Provincial Parliament, one of the greatest privileges of the job is spending time in the community with the people who make Nepean such a special place to call home. As this is my first summer in office, I have been privileged to attend community events, meet many of you, and hear your stories.
Serving Nepean: My First Months as Your MPP
Column published in the August 14, 2025 edition of Your Barrhaven Independent — Community Voice.
It’s still hard to believe it’s only been a few months since February’s election, where I was elected to serve as Nepean’s Member of Provincial Parliament. Since then, life has been a whirlwind - but an incredibly meaningful one. I want to take a moment to sincerely thank the people of Nepean for placing your trust in me to represent you at Queen’s Park.
